Artificial Intelligence

The AI theme is designed to harness the strengths of both institutions to advance cutting-edge research in AI.

Both institutions are committed to advancing AI technologies and their applications, with 91ΧΤΕΔ's Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) and the Surrey Institute for People-Centred AI leading the way in research and innovation.

This theme focuses on three core areas:

• Medical AI - leveraging AI for medical image analysis, aiming to improve diagnostic accuracy and optimise treatment planning.
• Robotic and Computer Vision - developing AI-driven perception systems to enable robust scene understanding, object recognition, and interaction in complex and dynamic environments.
• Creative Technologies - integrating AI with immersive technologies such as 3D/4D machine perception, spatial audio, and performance capture to create more realistic and interactive VR/AR experiences and enhance human-computer interactions.

The collaboration aims to drive innovations in these fields through joint research projects, PhD exchanges, and interdisciplinary workshops, ultimately establishing a global Centre of Excellence in AI.
