University of Adelaide joins in festival season

The University of Adelaide will join in Adelaide's festival season with events on campus, and members of the University community putting their expertise and talent on show. Events include:

Adelaide Fringe:

  • The Lumina Vocal Ensemble will present including premieres by Sag and Pope; Sunday 17 March, 3pm in the Barr Smith Library Reading Room.
  • Law student Demi Lardner and Bryn Adams showcase their comedic talents at The Runt in the Gluttony Garden; 2-3 and 5-17 March, 8pm.
  • by students Demi Lardner James McCann and others in a parody of the Australian film, Wolf Creek; 5-17 March, Format, 10.30pm.
  • comedy by 2012 Law graduate Amos Gill, runner-up in the 2012 Melbourne International Comedy Festival's Raw Comedy National Finals; 14 Feb - 2 March, Rhino Room beer garden, 9pm.
Adelaide Writers' Week:

  • The University's J.M. Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice is bringing two literary figures to Adelaide for Writers' Week - Professor Kurt Heinzelman and Associate Professor Susan Heinzelman, both from the University of Texas. They will present seminars at 91自拍 as follows:

    • Friday 1 March: Professor Kurt Heinzelman, founding co-editor of The Poetry Miscellany and Advisory Editor of Bat City Review will present 'The Grail of Origin: Translation and Originality', 3pm, Napier 618.

    • Friday 8 March: Associate Professor Susan Heinzelman, Director, Centre for Women's and Gender Studies, University of Texas, will present 'The Lear Effect: King Lear as a model of the dramatic representation of gender, terror and torture', 3pm, Napier 618.
  • A Writers' Week special event - by English historian Tom Holland, in conversation with Michael Cathcart; Sunday 3 March, Elder Hall, 6.30pm.
  • with Kevin Powers, Tatjana Soli and Madeleine Thein; Monday 4 March, Elder Hall, 7pm.
  • University Creative Writing staff and students are taking part in (2-7 March).
Adelaide Festival:

  • : an evening of eclectic and electrifying chamber music in an Adelaide exclusive; Thursday 14 March, Elder Hall, 8pm.
Other:

  • DocWeek: An evening with Honorary Academy Award documentary maker ; Thursday 28 February, Elder Hall, 8pm.
  • Radio Adelaide: coverage throughout the Festival madness starting with a special program on Friday 15 February at 8.30pm to broadcast the Fringe Parade.
  • Lunchtime concerts: Elder Hall starts its series on Friday 1 March with Niki and Slava, 1.10 2pm.
